Furniture Makeover: Coral Drawers

One thing I like to do when working with vintage furniture is somehow pay homage to the wood it is made with….not all pieces lend themselves to this of course, but when I can I like to allow the wood to shine. This chest drawers had seen better days, it was missing the mirror and the back piece had to be replaced. This one is painted with water based enamel paint…the last piece I did with this kind of paint! I keep the drawer fronts as they were, I just cleaned them up and gave them a slightly darker stain and matte varnish. I decided to keep the knobs, when I pulled them apart they were so beautifully made with wood screws I just knew they needed to stay with the piece.

Don’t you just love the keyholes? It didn’t have the key but still they are a cute feature.
