For a long time I hated pink…..like loathed the colour…..my dislike of it is well documented in my family. Then almost nine years ago a little pink bundle of gorgeousness entered my life and forever changed me immeasurably. One way in particular she completely transformed me…..Pink didn’t seem so bad anymore, in fact I came to love pink in all it’s shades. I have never been a girly girl, growing up I climbed trees with my dolls instead of playing tea parties, I liked parts of being a girl, but I would never fully embrace frills and flowers. When I had a little girl of my own I wanted everything girly, pink seemed okay, tolerable even……..and eventually it made its way into my home and a teeny tiny small part of my heart (the girly girl part).
Now don’t get me wrong I will never paint my house pink but I am not opposed to having splashes of it here and there.
So this brings me to today’s furniture makeover….when I bought this piece it wasn’t anything special but it had all these curves and a beautiful routed edges on the top that just screamed girl to me. This had to be pink, in the pinkest way! So I stripped the top as I has special plans for that and painted the rest with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Apron Strings a gorgeous coral to raspberry pink (it really has various shades in it, it is such a hard colour to define, but it is gorgeous). The top I white washed with MMSMP in Grain Sack and then White Waxed to give it a soft look and to really highlight the edges of this piece. Finally I lined the drawers and drawer sides with fabric I sealed with Mod Podge. (You will have to excuse the bad before picture I forgot to take one so I got this off the person who sold it to me!)
Don’t you just think these little white ceramic knobs give it that final perfect touch?
Well, what do you think? Just girly enough? I can see this in a baby girl’s nursery so that is how I styled it!
