I hope you have had a great weekend….for those of you in Australia I hope you are surviving the heat….I am over it! It makes working outside on furniture practically impossible! Fortunately this makeover I have for you today was done before all this heat!
I got to play Santa last Christmas…..and no I didn’t wear the red suit! A gorgeous Mum contacted me prior to Christmas asking if I had any desks in my shed….her little girls one Christmas wish was to get a desk! At first I said no…but then I remembered this little beauty, it’s a flip-down desk and a cabinet in one! All she saw was the below before picture and then asked me to use my creative vision to transform it. As it was a bit bland on the front I suggested a monogram and we then decided to add folk art style flowers. I was given free reign on this desk and and first I was stumped as to what direction to take…..it’s really actually hard to be given free reign! I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Arles with Duck Egg Blue and Old White on the inside. All the flowers were painted with acrylic paint and I finished it with a mix of clear wax and dark wax.
We delivered it secretly Christmas Eve and I am pleased to say she loved it and has spent many hours of her school holidays at her desk. I loved conspiring with her Mum to make her Christmas wishes come true. Now all I need to do is to create a desk for my daughter as since she saw this she keeps nagging me!
What do you think….did I do a good job being Santa?!
