Gone but Not Forgotten & Something worth Sharing

Colour Saturated Life | DIY Vintage Style Cake Stand

So I am back from my break…..sorry I kinda dropped off the face the earth for a few weeks but I took some time off while my daughter was on school holidays…..I try to get as much time with that kid as I can before she gets tired of me! The years are too short and before I know it she will be moving out and starting a life of her own….nothing is more valuable to me than my time with my family………I am sure you understand.

While I was on my break I did manage to do a Guest post over on Live Laugh Rowe for one of my awesome blogging friends Kelly….she has been doing some tripping around and sharing her incredible talent so I was happy to fill in for her. You can check out the post here, it is a really simple DIY Vintage Cake Stand and would make a beautiful addition to any kitchen….I know I love it in mine. It was actually fun styling with a cake as I don’t get to work with food a lot….

I also wanted to share with some really amazing news that makes me kinda want to pinch myself because it is a dream come true! I am featured in the current Fall Edition of Make-it-Over Magazine! When the editor contacted me months ago to ask if I was willing to share some of my projects in her magazine I think I literally squealed with delight. It has been a dream of mine for the longest time to have my work in a magazine…..I just wanted my photography in a magazine somewhere but this feature included not only my photography but three of my own projects with my styling and writing……I don’t think I could have gotten the words written down and the photos send off fast enough….just in case she changed her mind. Then I had to wait to share it with you until the magazine came out and I had it in my hands….which almost killed me. I don’t know how other bloggers wait a year or more to tell these secrets….the last few months have been hard enough. Once I had a copy my hubby wanted to walk around with it and show complete strangers….it was really sweet actually and I think it was the best part of the whole thing, there is something special about the person you love showing how proud they are of you. I know he is proud of everything I do and he is the one person in my life that reads everything I post but to see his joy and pride in me was something unexpected…..he is a humble guy and bragging is not in his nature (nor mine) but seeing that pride in his eyes meant everything to me. He is my biggest cheerleader and his support and encouragement means the world. I know he is reading this so I just want to say I love you Dean, without you in my life none of this would mean anything.

I know it just sounded like I just accepted an Oscar, or something as grand….but in my world it means as much and I want you all to know that you play a huge part in my success and that without you, my amazing readers & friends, this would all be for nothing…..you are all at the heart of what I do here and I want to say thank you for supporting and encouraging me, you are a blessing….more than you know.

If you want to see the projects that were featured you can find the New York Dresser here, the Floral Dresser here and the Artwork here.

So this week we are back to “normal” again, I have a really different kind of furniture makeover to share with you and I cannot wait to see what you think, it was a custom commission and it’s one of those projects that left me feeling blessed that this is what I do…..blood, sweat and tears included.

If you don’t already follow me on Facebook and Instagram you really should…..these are where I share more insight into my home here in Australia and sneak peeks of the projects I am working on…..you don’t want to miss a thing.

I will see you later in the week……
