I love Christmas wreaths…..they are my favourite Christmas decor item. I have a lot of wreaths both handmade and purchased . This year I wanted a rustic stick wreath to go in my entrance so I decided to make my own. The great thing about this wreath is that it was FREE! I stripped down an old Easter wreath to use a base, the sticks I got from pruning our lemon trees and I scavenged the Pinecones from the local pine forests. If you want to make your own follow the tutorial below.
Step One:
Gather your supplies, you will need: Sticks, Pine cones, a wreath as a base (preferably one made from twigs), florist wire, ribbon and hot glue.
Step Two:
Place a row of the sticks around the wreath – I chose to place mine around in a clockwise direction……you want your sticks to protrude out from the wreath.
Step Three:
Once you are happy with your layout glue them down using the hot glue.
Step Four:
Lay down another layer of sticks in the gaps of your last layer. I just did two layers on my wreath plus a few random ones to fill in gaps as I wanted a design that had a lot of gaps……you could easily fill this in to make a fuller wreath.
Step Five:
Add your Pine cones, using your florist wire to attach them. I also added ribbon to hang my wreath but that is a personal preference.
DONE!!!!!!!!!
This turned out exactly how I wanted and I love that it cost me nothing, plus it took no time at all! What do you think? Have you made your own wreath this year?
