{Our Home} Hallway Alcove

Hallway Bookshelf | Colour Saturated Life

So I promised another peek inside my home…..here it is. This space is our Hallway Alcove (not sure what else to call it and alcove makes it sound kinda fancy!) it is one if my favourite parts of our home as the archway frames out what is inside it and makes a pretty vignette of sorts. As you enter through the back door this what you see ahead of you….and as we only use our back door I get to see this everyday! This leads into the back part of our house where two of our bedrooms reside and my current small office.

I have just updated it, before it looked like this….

Which was pretty but didn’t really reflect my current style. During Christmas time I styled it like this…..

And now we have replaced the blue dresser with an Ikea Vittsjo Shelving unit. I love this space now! It has a harder look and I think (though some may not agree) a semi-industrial vibe.

I will leave you to admire….

Now just pause there and stare at the door I have blocked….weird I know….but this is a doorway to nowhere….as in if you walk out it you will fall down onto our side yard. Our house is very much a work in progress, one day it may have a deck off the side and you could walk out the door and relax and look at our amazing views. Until then I can decorate this gorgeous spot.

Well, what do you think? I love all the pops of colour and sense of whimsy it brings to our house. A lot of the items are vintage finds, souvenirs and my favourite books and magazines. I know bookcases are meant to have lots of books but I like styling mine with pretty things….and anyway most of my books are ugly paperbacks!

Hope you enjoyed this tiny peek. Have a great weekend and I will see you next week!

You definitely nailed it with “whimsy” and “pops of color”. I love it! Especially that amazing blue lamp with its wire “shade”. This is a space I probably never would have thought to decorate, but you did a really great job with it!ReplyCancel

Thanks Rebekah! The blue shade was something I made over….I painted the base and then striped style shade and spray painted it black.ReplyCancel

Hi! My name is Nicki and I am visiting from Found and foraged. I love what you have done with this little hallway, it is exactly my style and the style I am going towards in my own home. I call my style eclectic, modern, polished casual. I think this hallway fits that perfectly. Now I am off to explore the rest of your blog.ReplyCancel
